Expanding Out focuses on developing skills to mobilize creative power. We believe that we all possess the capacity to dream up new ideas, new thoughts and new ways of being. At Expanding Out, our mission is to develop a road map to identify the best ways to activate our creative energy. Drawing on concepts including the imagination, daydreaming and risk-taking, we provide tools and practices to help free your creative mind and feel empowered in the process.

Phoebe Farber, PHD

Phoebe Farber has been involved in creative endeavors since her early life growing up in New
York City. She trained as a dancer and toured with several companies before shifting to the
field of mental health. She received her MSW and PhD from NYU’s School of Social Work and
currently has a psychotherapy practice. Since 2015 she has taught a class at Montclair State
University titled Creative Thinking that focuses on the psychological and philosophical roots of
creativity. Phoebe has led workshops in Creative Thinking domestically and abroad and has
presented at a TedX conference on the dynamics of judgment. Phoebe is also a playwright
whose work has been produced at theaters around New York and New Jersey. Creativity is at
the center of Phoebe’s life, both personally and professionally.
David Strobbe, EdD
Co-Founder

Originally from Canada, Dr. Strobbe has travelled the world as a principal ballet dancer in companies such as Hong Kong Ballet, Cleveland San Jose Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theater, and Smuin Ballet. He took his performing expertise to musical theater and performed on the stages of Walnut Street Theater, Maine State Music Theater, and the Fulton Theater. Dr. Strobbe successfully transitioned to performing arts administration as a way to support and give back to the arts community that allowed him to pursue his own passion for the arts. Dr. Strobbe worked at the Metropolitan Opera in artistic administration before moving to The Juilliard School as a Production Manager. After completing his doctorate in Transformative Leadership in Higher Education, he teaches Creative Thinking at Montclair State University.
